Translation
The Lord of the Rings
Upon this day I will sing to thee
One tale from across the great sea,
Of the wild land of Middle-Earth
Beneath the glittering host of stars,
Those flames as brilliant as jewels
Kindled by the royal Gilthoniel.
The world was on the edge of darkness
Endangered by a golden ring,
Nine friends forsook the night
And journeyed through the twilit world,
The halfling passed beyond the mists
And said farewell to Middle-Earth!
I love reading throkugh a post that wiill make people think.
Also, thaznks for allowing me too comment!
What I love about writing in a language most people don’t speak is that you can allow the images to arise when the feeling of the sounds impact you. The story is conveyed in a different way.
Honestly, I thought about learning the Elvish language just to be able to write Haikus in Elvish 🙂 Forget Esperanto. Elvish should become the universal language.
It’s certainly worth learning, or at least getting a basic sense of the grammar and vocabulary! I recommend Ruth Noel’s book “The Languages of Tolkien’s Middle-earth.”
