I had the pleasure of joining Rachael Alaia in dialogue on her podcast Feral Intercourse: Conversations with Wild Women. We explored such topics as ecopsychology, mythology, archetypal astrology, and the creative power of the imagination, and we also spoke to the importance of acknowledging one’s pain and grief for the world as part of answering the call to action with compassion. The podcast is available on Soundcloud or iTunes.
I participated in a wonderful conversation on the podcast Exploring Astrology with Adam Sommer, where we spoke about C.G. Jung’s natal chart, his transits during his Red Book period, and several other astrological topics.
The podcast is available for download or can be listened here: Exploring Jung with Becca Tarnas.
I had the great pleasure of being interviewed by Gordon White, host of the London-based podcast Rune Soup. We discussed the synchronicity of the “Red Books” of Jung and Tolkien, as well as the role of the imaginal and the mythic in ecology. The podcast is available for download or can be listened to directly below.
The interactive web documentary, The Biology of Story, created by Amnon Buchbinder, is now available online! The full website is fascinating to explore and has interviews with over one hundred individuals who speak about the many facets of story and the narrative tradition.
My own clips for the documentary are now accessible as well, exploring topics ranging from the imagination and ecology, to archetypal astrology, and my dissertation work on The Red Books of C.G. Jung and J.R.R. Tolkien. The full playlist of my videos is available here.
I encourage you to take the time to explore the many amazing offerings by the vast range of individuals the film makers have brought together!
Here is a new preview of an interview of mine from Amnon Buchbinder’s interactive documentary entitled The Biology of Story, this one focusing on the imagination as its own ecology.
This presentation, given at Bishop’s Ranch in Sonoma, California, briefly explores the ways in which Alfred North Whitehead’s process philosophy can provide one possible metaphysical basis for the practice and perspective of archetypal cosmology.
The Biology of Story is a large-scale, web-based interactive documentary that explores how we live with story and how story lives with us. The film, directed by Amnon Buchbinder, will present a new theory of story based on the experience of story creators, but encompassing the myriad roles that story plays in our lives. I was invited to participate in an interview filmed in the summer of 2015.
The paper from which this presentation was given, also entitled “Whitehead and Archetypal Cosmology,” is available here.
This presentation was given at a conference organized by Jessica Garfield-Kabbara, who taught a course entitled Embodying Astrology in an Archetypal Cosmos in the spring of 2015. The essay out of which this presentation emerged, called “Archetypal Ecology: Drought in a Rhythmic Cosmos,” is available here.
